PRIVATE CLASSES AND BEHAVIOUR MODIFICATION
Private training lessons are available in your home, the training hall, or at a location of your request. Private training lessons are suited to fit your schedule, whether it be a busy lifestyle, or shift work, we will make arrangements to suit your needs. A perk to private lessons is you choose what you and your dog learn! All private lessons are individually customized to meet the needs of you and your dog.
CanineLife also offers all Group Obedience Classes, Puppy Head-Start through Advanced training through private lessons. The curriculum can be completed through our private training package of 5 lessons. This is a great alternative for families with busy schedules and can be enhanced with our Skills Drop-In training classes to allow for training and socialization with other pet parents and their dogs currently enrolled in other programs at CanineLife.
Customized program plans can be anything from correcting behaviors that are only present in your home or at a specific location such as the park, in addition to any other behaviours you may want to teach your dog such as perfecting a recall or a stay to eliminating behaviours such as barking at the mailman or jumping on guests at the door!
Private lessons are also available if you are considering purchasing or adopting a puppy or dog and would like professional advice on what breed would be best suited for your family. This session will also include information on how to introduce your new dog into your family and get training off on the right 'paw' from the start.
Are you expecting a baby and not sure how to prepare your dog for the arrival? We have an internationally recognized program available called Dogs & Storks to help you prepare your dog for the arrival of your new baby to help prevent dog bites, re homing of your pet, and teach you games and activities you can provide your dog with to keep them active and happy.
Behaviour Modification is our specialty! Lessons are available through private training lessons for pet parents and their dogs that are experiencing any signs of aggression, dog-dog aggression and/or dog-human aggression, fearfulness, phobias, extreme submissiveness, submissive urination, separation anxiety, possessiveness/ resource guarding, car/bike/runner/rollerblader/skateboarder chasing, destructive behaviour, excessive barking, and much more. After a private lesson/ consultation with a trainer, you will be assessed to determine if you are a suitable candidate for our 'Brave Dog' class for shy, nervous, and timid dogs, or for our 'All Good Dogs' class for dogs displaying signs of aggression, our trainers will work with you through private lessons until you are eligible to attend our Behaviour Modification classes.
All of our programs include how to recognize and understand your dog's body language and how they communicate... what are they really telling you?
Course Length: 1 hour sessions, length to be determined with individual program plan.
Fee: $75 per hour or 5-1 hour lessons for $350 (+ HST)

Sniff! Scent Discrimination Course:
For graduates of the Puppy / Foundation program, Intermediate recommended.
A dogs sense of smell is 1,000 to 10,000 times greater than ours. It is only natural for a dog to use their nose to learn about the world that they are in. It is similar to you reading a book or watching a movie. If some dogs do not have the opportunity to use this in a constructive way, it can get them into trouble. Teaching them appropriate games where they can use this amazing tool and interact with you is great mental stimulation that can help keep them entertained.
In our scent discrimination course we teach you the skills to teach your dogs different games that you can play outside or inside (especially if the weather is bad!) that can give them as much entertainment and exercise as a walk. Basic nose games are some of the best ways to entertain an active, bored dog that needs a job!
Disc Dog Fun Course:
For graduates of the Puppy / Foundation program, Intermediate recommended.
Our Beginner Frisbee course covers an introduction to Frisbee basics such as; disc throwing techniques, how to motivate your dog to play with, catch and bring back a Frisbee, fun tricks and stunts and how to keep your dog safe while playing a game that stimulates their mind and body at the same time!
